2nd Hearing

Today we went to Richmond for the second hearing. Erick and his dad testified (and did a great job), and they had enough votes for the bill to pass (have I mentioned the "Kings" have been on the News already TWICE in the past few days?). But the Chairman of the committee is, apparently, on the VHSL board (Virginia high school league) and made an agreement with the vice president that, because he knew it would have enough votes to pass, they would suggest putting the bill into a "study" this summer--basically studying how the other states have made this work (COME ON!! 25 states have made this work. Complexity argument? CRUSHED.). And naturally, everyone went with the Chairman and liked the study idea.

We all know this bill is going to pass someday. The question is when.
And it better be sooner rather than later. Already I've missed the first year of HS. <-- I'm not kidding: This is DEPRESSING.

EDIT: Uhh...this is Vivi, and I know this is off topic, but I wanted to ask for your prayers because today I have a seating audition for orchestra...so...yeah. :)

@Molly: I would have L.O.V.E.D. too, although I don't know if Mom and Dad would have been up for it. :P
But if it was up to me, yes, I would. ;)

Hi Vivi,

I was thinking about you and praying for you yesterday!!! I know you did fantastic! Remember, no matter where you end up, you can still play like principle and be a blessing to everyone around you -know from experience of ending in the back quite a few times :)

Love You!!!

That's great! What do you play?

Catie said...

I play the flute! :) Also, any tips for learning Chromatic scales (in general)?

Catie

Marina said...

Epic!

Chromatic scales...well, when my flute teacher makes me play them, I have to stop if I get the notes even the smallest bit uneven (sometimes I can't even hear it, but she can :P). Now I can tell that's really helped, and so I practice it myself. ;)

Tell me if you get in!

That and practicing the high register a couple more times. :P As I'm sure you know, that higher register has (*cough*) slightly harder fingering than the other octaves and requires more breath support, etc. :P Not to mention (I don't know if you're doing this or not) switching from slurring to tonguing at that painful C.

Catie said...

YOU PLAY FLUTE?!?!?!?!?!!? :D aaawwweeessooommmeeee....=) yeah my flute teacher can tell if i play the wrong fingering, just by hearing it. lol. oh yeah... the high register... :P yeah and I have to tounge and slur, AND I start on middle G, to extra-high (lol) G. [2 octaves]!!! not C!!! so it's even higher...:P lol.

Thanks!

Catie

It's not abnormal. :P Just take a look at how LITTLE she breathes--especially on the run in the 2nd movement.

wow.. that must be hard!! ohhh haha 3 octaves... eeew! lol. :P haha yupp it takes a LOT of air to play the flute XP haha. :P I always end up making the top octave of the chromatic scale REALLY loud...:P

God bless,
Catie
