Friday Afternoon Daybook

I forgot to do my daybook yesterday...and haven't done if for the past few weeks for various reason...so I thought I'd better do one today.

Outside my window...

The sun is shining...and it's getting REALLY COLD!! In fact, I've been cold almost all day.

Mood...

Tired...yet, I've already fallen asleep about three times today!

I'm thinking...

About how much history reading I have....

I'm currently reading...

The Bible. :) For History...

I'm listening to...

Mom on the phone. Did y'all know that I have an interesting phone voice?? It's really funny to hear some people talk on the phone...especially when they're leaving a message.

I'm wearing...

Tan corduroy pants that I already stained today, brown shirt, ponytail...

I'm looking forward to...

THE WEEKEND!!! Guess what it means! S-L-E-E-P

I'm hoping...

That my history reading will get done...

Yesterday, I...

Got a blister making caramelized pecans, finished my Quarter Review for Math, read the introduction for Romeo and Juliet for writing...

Around the house…

It's FREEZING!!! We seriously need some more blankets...

Oh, and Ellie (our dog) isn't doing so well...she's kind of...well, sick...

I'm hungry for...

I don't really know. I'm kind of hungry, but I want something sweet, but it can't be cold...

The song stuck inside my head is…

Well, earlier I was singing Get Back Up into my microphone at almost the top of my voice...Gab got part of that on video...it's pretty funny.

I love…

My new ring! Take a look.

I loathe...

Cold feet...and unfortunately I'll be having these a lot...

From the kitchen…

Breakfast was waffles with pie filling and whipped cream!!! They were really, really good. Hooray for Josie and Mom!

School right now…

History, history, history...

What we’re planning for this week…

Well, we have a pretty busy weekend. We're going to a couple parties...and get to spend time with a couple really good friends.

I am thankful for…

My down (is that how you spell it?) blanket...

Fiesta #3 - "A Musical Interlude"

{1} What musical instrument(s) do you play?

I play the flute and used to play the piano

{So I (Vivi) get these thingys again...I forget what these
{ are called. Anyway, I play Viola and just recently stopped my piano lessons but can still play that too}

{2} How long have you been playing that instrument(s)?

Umm....maybe 3 1/2 years?? (Piano, for maybe 10 years?)

{Viola: 2 3/4 years, Piano: Since I was 4! (how ever long that is)}

{3} What is your favorite era of music: Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Contemporary?

That really depends on what song it is in which era. ;) Probably Romantic, though.

{To tell you the truth...I don't really know. Probably Classical or Romantic.}

{4} Why? (in reference to the above question)

Baroque and Classical a lot of the time sound really stiff and metronome-y and happy, while Contemporary sometimes is, you know, a bit clangy and stuff...(although Contemporary is probably second)

{I don't really know...I just think that Contemporary sounds weird usually}

{5} Who is your favorite composer? (If you're drawing a blank,
click here for a nice long list to pick from :D)

Hmm....I like Beethoven and Rachmaninoff

{Uhh...I DON'T KNOW!!}

{6} Do you like jazz music? Why or why not?

Sometimes....I think it's really fun to play...

{Sometimes, sometimes not...I think it's more fun to play then to listen to, though}

{7} Are you one of those folks who could play their musical instrument for hours and love every minute of it? (or...just about every minute?)

Umm...well, if I played the flute for hours, then my mouth would start hurting and possibly my back too, and I might have to stop to clean the flute in the middle, so I think I'd prefer NOT to play for hours and hours.

{Unfortunately, no. Plus, I don't really have the time. :) }

{8} Would you rather listen to music or play it?

Depends on which kind! I like listening to music on Spirit FM, and I like playing pieces with long, showy runs. ;)

{Probably listen}

{9} Do you like to perform in front of people, or would you rather not?

Mostly not

{Well, it depends...i really like orchestra concerts, but by myself is different...}

{10} What's one thing you love about your instrument?

the shinyness (in look and sound)

{I like that it can be really high and really low....it's like a wonderful mix between a Cello and a Violin!}

{11} What is your favorite genre of music to listen to?

I like stuff on Spirit FM........

{Whatever plays on Spirit FM pretty much...}

{12} Would you rather listen to an entire CD (or playlist) of just one artist, or a random shuffle list or CD?

A random shuffle list of artists like TobyMac, Stellar Kart, Britt Nicole, etc.

{Definitely random shuffle}

{13} Do you like listening to movie soundtracks?

We rarely do, but I think so...

{Yes, I think so....we've had tons of songs from
My Fair Lady in our heads recently...it gets a little annoying}

{14} Does listening to music while doing schoolwork distract or help you?

Both...does that make sense?

{I really like listening to it...unless it gets distracting...:)}

{15} Radio, CD, or iPod/mp3 player?

iPod touch (or iPhone)!!

{Radio and iPod touch!}

{16} Do your siblings like to listen to the same music you do?

DEFINITELY.

{Oh, yeah...}

{17} Do you like to "sing along" with the songs you know, or would you rather just listen to them?

What's the fun of listening to songs if you can't sing to them?

{DEFINITELY SING...and imitate the 'ohs' and 'yeahs'...and all the weird sounds that the artists make...well, actually not that weird...}

Oh, that's right, Vivi. I forgot to say how we imitate like the sound of the artists voice--like whether it's a waaaaaa voice or a breathy voice or a voice that has lots of emotion...it's really fun.

{18} Do you like to listen to "old music", a.k.a. the music your parents listened to way back in the day? (not that our parents are old or anything....)

No, not exactly...

{Not really}

{19} Do you like rap music? (random question, I know)

Um. I don't know, but I think not.

{Uhh...??}

{20} Ready for Christmas music yet?

Nah.......let's wait until Thanksgiving.

{Well, Christmas music can get pretty tiring....so I think that it'll be fun when we get to it, but it can wear off so quickly that I think we'd better save it)

17 October 2010

I got a haircut!

This may not be that interesting to some of y'all....but I got a haircut! Believe it or not, it's my first actual 'professional' haircut...the first I've ever gotten at a hair salon. So, I thought I'd post some before and after pictures:

BEFORE:

(These should be shown in black and white with spooky music playing...)

AFTER:

(And these should be shown colored with some sort of happy music playing...)

Fiesta #2 - Busy Fingers (Part two)

So for part two we have to post about a hobby we do. Vivi and I couldn't figure out what exactly Jo (<-- click on her name to join the fiesta!) meant by "hobby", but since she said it could be an "obscure" one, we decided on cooking competitions.

Today, actually, we had friends over and had a tofu CC (and...didn't tell them what the secret ingredient was beforehand). When we were walking through the Asian market in Richmond, Mom wanted to buy some tofu to experiment with and said we could get some for a cooking competition also. We thought it might be a bit tricky, and we came up with some interesting dishes!

Team 1 (Vivi, Annette, Carter - Tofu stir fry):

Team 2 (Gab, Josie - Tofu parmesan):

Team 3 (Micah, Emilie - Tofsagna):

And I just got an email from Micah with the results, and here they are totaled up:

Tofu parmesan (aka "spaghetti") - 3 votes
Tofsagna (aka "lasagna") - 2 votes
Tofu stir fry (aka "rice") - 0 votes

Nice job, everyone!

And for all the rest of the pictures:

P. S. FYI, this is our 100th post! (that's why the Daybooks didn't get posted. We didn't want them to be our 100th post...but this post needed posted, so....yeah)

Fiesta #2 - Busy Fingers

If you haven't already.............check out Jo's fiestas!!

Here are the questions:
{1} What is your favorite hobby or craft to do?

Swimming

{Ya know...do I really have to pick a favorite? I'll just say...cooking, for some variety.}

{2} What's the biggest/most difficult project you've ever tackled?

That's hard...it depends on what you define "project" as. The dictionary on my computer defines it as "an individual or collaborative enterprise that is carefully planned and designed to achieve a particular aim". If that's it, this wouldn't be one of the biggest or really most difficult I guess, but what I'm thinking is maybe when Vivi and I and two other sisters (twins) had to clean off the gators mats with all the stinkbugs on them, and the stinkbugs kept crawling back onto the mats, and there were dead ones burrowed into it, and when you got the ones of the top one, they'd all crawl down to the next one, so by the end there were TONS on the bottom one...I KNOW that was run-on, but a run-on best expresses my feelings about that "project".

{Ooh...I really don't know...I don't think. One of the really, really hard things (I don't know if it would be called a project) I've done is doing a 200 butterfly with out walking on the bottom or doing one-arms....those are a couple of the really hard ones}

{3} What project of yours are you the most proud of?

Oh...I don't know...but the ones we do every week in engineering are really, really fun!!!!!!!!!!

{Probably the Duct Tape dress I made one year for a costume}

{4} Someone gives you a $20 JoAnn Fabrics giftcard. The first thing that comes to mind to spend it on is...

Maybe beads or something else to make jewelry-type-stuff

{Probably just fabric that's pretty....or something for a gift}

{5} Can you do a project and watch a movie at the same time?

Yes, sometimes, if the movie's not my absolute favorite.

{Depends on what. I know I can fold laundry while....I've had a lot of experience with that}

Oh, yes, Vivi. That too. Laundry folding while watching a movie/tv is very common at our house.

{6} When you are hand sewing, do you bite off your thread when you're done, or snip it with scissors or just break it with your fingers?

Scissors

{Scissors...unless they're not around. Then I try desperately to break or bite it off, but usually end up having to find scissors anyway}

{7} Does anyone in your family collect things (like tea cups, stamps, bottle caps, etc.)?

Umm...no.

{Not really}

{8} What are your favorite color combinations that you use in your crafts?

I like brown and pink/blue I think.

{Me too...or brown with something else}

But I also like black...

{9} Does decorating a Mr. or Mrs. Potato Head sound interesting to you?

No, I think I would prefer to spend my time doing something else.

{Maybe, maybe not. It depends on how interesting the costume things are and if I have anything better to do}

{10} The manager at your theater needs help in the making of the costumes and/or set decoration and set up for the next production. You volunteer to do....what?

Set decoration/set up. Sewing would take too long, and I'm way too impatient!! I mean, when I have dozens of biology terms to memorize, sewing would just frustrate me and make me more impatient.

{Probably help set up...but I'd rather be in the production itself!}

Camping trip fall 2010

From October 14-16, we went camping (as we do every year) at Bear Creek Lake (state park) along with the crowd from Pure Joy. It rained on Thursday...a lot, but Friday and Saturday were really nice! And we caught some fish and ate them (or...tasted them) and went kayaking and even had a kayak championship relay race (in which Vivi's and my team won...of course)! As normal, here are some pictures (We took 436 [98% taken by me], but I'll only show you a few [maybe about 50-something]). I know there are alot, so you don't have to look at them all, but still...

You might be like "THAT WAS ONE WEEK AGO!!!". Well, getting all these pictures up here took a long time. :P
