You asked for it:

Since y'all kept comparing Vivi to Josie, I had to put these pics up (the Vivi-an version of Josie's key-lime-pie-scenario).

They were taken maybe a month ago when we were making pound cake; I took them with my ipod, and the lighting's horrible, but still...

She was eating leftover pound cake batter and started laughing when I brought out the ipod.

and one from 2005 in which she was almost 8...

and here's a 2006 with her, Annette, and Josie...
so...?

(I might also put a video up here of our Midsummer Night's Dream play in 2008 with our cousins.
Prepare to be amazed.)

What you get...

...when you combine Josie, a spatula, and key lime pie...

Gab - (she gets this from a certain Vivi Coulter)

Saturday Morning Daybook - Feb. 26

(hosted by Miss Jo March at Scraps From My Workbasket)
Date... 26 February
Starting time... 10:09am
Mood...it's a research-paper-y mood.
Outside my window...Not rainy!
I'm thinking...that I definitely need to do a lot of school today.
I'm currently reading...The Screwtape Letters (it's really cool!)
I'm listening to...same as last week--bug has a lot to say.
I'm wearing...jeans, pinkish short-sleeved shirt
I'm looking forward to...research paper (<-- I know, weird)
I'm hoping...to get all or almost all of my rough draft done by Tuesday.
Yesterday, I...(1) got locked out of our house because our power went out, and we only had the garage door opener, so we were locked out until the power came back on 2 hours later, (2) watched Megamind (and yes, I liked it. It came out in stores yesterday I think.
Our battles quickly got more elaborate. He would win some, I would ALMOST win others! He took the name: Metro Man, defender of Metro City. I decided to pick something a little more humble: Megamind, incredibly handsome criminal genius and master of all villainy!
I'm hungry for...the cinnamon rolls from whole foods! :P
The song stuck inside my head is...Enchanted
I love...little sports balls that are going to be screwed onto the drawers in bug's room to make little knobs.
I loathe...still having a logic test to do...
This week, my goal is...I guess...getting almost all of my RD done by Tuesday (as I said before)....
Did I meet last week's goal?...yes!
Ending time... 10:45am

Btw, I made a new background for this last night because I was so sick of the old background and colors...

25 February 2011

Take a look...

...'cause one of our good friends has opened a blog! It's a craft blog, and she has some really cool stuff over there, so please go check it out!

Thursday Afternoon Daybook

Outside my window...

It's raining! (Note: RAINING not SNOWING) It's finally getting to be spring! (not that I don't like winter, but...)

Mood...

Hungry, tired, relieved that I finally get what I'm doing for my paper...

I'm thinking...

About all the little different aspects of NYC...you know, the 5 boroughs, the weather, the population...

I'm currently reading...

Well, I'd say nothing but that's not really true. I'm reading These Were the Greeks for history (*groan*)...and then I'm reading Surprised by Truth in the bathroom. (Ok, fine...yes, we have books in the bathroom and some of them are very interesting)

I'm listening to...

Gab's chair creek, my keys typing, Gab's keys typing...

I'm wearing...

Jeans, FLST shirt

I'm looking forward to...

Tomorrow and Saturday

I'm hoping...

That we'll get a good movie for tomorrow night

Yesterday, I...

Spent hours trying to come up with an intro for my Research paper...and then I ended up almost completely trashing it today...I almost completely redid it. *sigh* All that work for nothing...

Around the house…

We love our new couch! And Bug is bonking himself all over...and there's embossing power glittery stuff on the table (Annette has taken to embossing)...

I'm hungry for...

FRAPPUCCINO. I need one so bad...so I think I'm going to make one....

The song stuck inside my head is…

None, really...and then as soon as I get to this question I try to think of what song is in my head which makes me think of different songs which makes me try to think that one of them is in my head...

I love…

My bed. Who doesn't?

I loathe...

When my stomach feels weird...or when I'm too hungry...

From the kitchen…

Hopefully a frappuccino in the next few minutes

School right now…

My research paper is actually going better then I thought it would today...after yesterday (when it really didn't go too well), today has been pretty good so far...

What we’re planning for this week…

Movie (hopefully) tomorrow, plus a bunch of other stuff tomorrow, and we're going to have some friends for dinner on Saturday...

I am thankful for…

My blow dryer that makes my hair not look flat. :P

22 February 2011

Deicide:

The killing of a god

Cannot WAIT for Lent and even better, Easter! (*starts singing*..."the most wonderful time of the year...")

Saturday Morning Daybook - Feb. 19

(hosted by Miss Jo March at Scraps From My Workbasket)
Date... 19 February
Starting time... 10:52am
Mood...:P
Outside my window...It's been feeling like spring lately!!
I'm thinking...that I'm drawing the USA for writing. :P
I'm currently reading...My biology textbook! Invertebrates. yay.
I'm listening to...As normal, baby brother sounds...
I'm wearing...jeans, grayish/pinkish shirt
I'm looking forward to...tomorrow
I'm hoping...that I'll do well in my competition today.
Yesterday, I...watched Fireproof.
I'm hungry for...like ice cream or something.
The song stuck inside my head is...Love Story :P
I love...feels-like-spring weather
I loathe...on days that I don't do gators, my breathing patterns are messed up when I play the flute--very bad for competition day.
This week, my goal is...to get something on the history forum posted!
Did I meet last week's goal?...I didn't really do this last week, but I SORT OF met the goal I set last time I did this.
Ending time... 11:45am (you can tell I took lots of "breaks" in between :P )

You probably know by now I have a music competition today. It's actually the same one that my friend Jo March is playing in. I'm playing at 4:15 EST, just before she is, and I'm going to need lots of prayer!!

What did the ancient Greeks value in a woman...

We were talking about this in literature after discussing encomiums (works of literature that praise an abstract quality or generalized character type), and I thought it was interesting.

(The ancient Greeks thought women were evil and sent to be temptation and stumbling blocks to men. After one of the gods created humans, Zeus introduced women into the world as punishment. Now of course Christians believe that women were made to be the helpers of men. So lets compare...)

Homer held up this picture of what was admired in a woman at that time. Interestingly, Penelope does not differ too much from the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31. The main difference is the physical vs. spiritual beauty.

In fact, this picture of Penelope is to me more appealing than that of Odysseus. If you remember, Odysseus wasn't very faithful to his wife (think Calypso and Circe). Penelope, however, remained faithful even when all thought Odysseus was dead. She refused to choose another husband even when dozens of rich suitors crowded into and took over her home. In ancient Greece, unfaithfulness in men was almost admired, although unfaithfulness in women was looked down upon. (and I thought the women were supposed to be the evil ones?!)

Thursday Afternoon Daybook

Outside my window...
Sunny...it's been feeling like spring lately.
Mood...
Ready to have my research paper DONE...but it's not. ;)
I'm thinking...
About how much left of my outline I have for this week...
I'm currently reading...
Just history reading. And science. And my research paper sources. And my notecards...You get the point. ;)
I'm listening to...
Love Is Here by Tenth Avenue North
I'm wearing...
Pink-striped sweater (was I wearing that last week?) and jeans
I'm looking forward to...
Tomorrow! It means we get to go to some friends' house, get to watch a movie, and get to stay up late. Well, later...
I'm hoping...
That I'll get a lot done today
Yesterday, I...
Did my history chat, worked a lot on my outline, did school...
Around the house…
There's a NEW COUCH coming today!!!!!! Remember this? Well, we had never actually gotten a new one after the old one got dumped away...we looked and looked but couldn't find one we liked a lot and that wasn't like extremely expensive. So...we just brought some chairs in from a different part of the house. But then Dad and Mom found one they really like! (to tell you the truth, neither Gab nor I have actually seen it...there were pictures, but...) So it's coming in today!
I'm hungry for...
LUNCH. Haven't eaten yet. Hmm...what sounds good...
The song stuck inside my head is…
Now You're Not Shaken by Phil Stacey is playing...we actually saw him perform this one at a concert a while ago...
I love…
Little brothers that insist that you "pat-pat" them when they go to bed. You wouldn't believe how much Bug-bug is talking! HE. IS. SO. CUTE. He can imitate almost anything you say. Oh and his "Amen" is really nice also.
I loathe...
When my algebra takes too long...
From the kitchen…
Leftovers for lunch...that's where I'll be heading after I'm done with this.
School right now…
Let's see. Do you really want to know? Ok...NYC research paper, Module #11 Science, History--Persia, Logic--conditional syllogisms, Algebra--fractions, Grammar--Test...and guess what? I had 3 tests today ALREADY!
What we’re planning for this week…
Going to a friend's house tomorrow, watching a movie, going skiing on Sunday (just a guess)...
I am thankful for…
Wonderful Macbooks that help me with my schoolwork...

Thursday Afternoon Daybook

Outside my window...

Sunny! With traces of snow from last night. Can you believe it? We got like less then 1/2 an inch of snow and yet the schools got a 2-hour delay!

Mood...

Exhausted, busy, not wanting to think about how much history reading and research paper I have right now...

I'm thinking...

About my research paper. I'm doing NYC and I want to go negative, but...I'll have to see. There's a lot of good stuff about there, supposedly...

I'm currently reading...

A Philadelphia Catholic in King James's Court by Martin De Porres Kennedy. I really like that book!

I'm listening to...

Myself type...Gab clicking around...

I'm wearing...

Jeans, pink striped sweater...

I'm looking forward to...

The weekend!! Valentine's Day party this weekend...again. :)

I'm hoping...

Yes, this is a very extraordinary hope, but...take a look. I SO WANT TO GO! Again, very unlikely...but who knows? Maybe all of you will be very generous and decide to buy me a ticket...???

Yesterday, I...

Did school...and went out to eat in honor of Opa's birthday. (he died almost three years ago)

Around the house

It's actually cleaner then it was last week!

I'm hungry for...

Not very much. I've kinda been snacking all day...

The song stuck inside my head is

Well, I had True Happiness in my head (it's the words to a hymn that were put to a different tune) but now I have Hiding Place by Sarah Groves...

I love

SNOW (please let it snow more, please let it snow more, please let it snow more, please let it snow more...)

I loathe...

The feeling of, "Oh my goodness I have SO much to do and have no idea how I'm going to get it all done!"

From the kitchen

We had Dutch Puff for breakfast.

School right now

Must I answer this one?

What we’re planning for this week

Valentine's Day party Saturday, school and movie (probably) tomorrow, maybe skiing on Sunday...plus a little school throughout...or should I say a lot.

I am thankful for

People, books, and things that are encouraging
